Nollywood actress, Teniola Aladese has sparked fresh conversations about gender equality following her recent comments questioning traditional household roles and urging men to take a more active part in domestic chores.
Speaking during a podcast appearance, Aladese challenged long standing stereotypes that often assign cooking and cleaning primarily to women.
She questioned why society continues to normalise situations in which a woman is expected to cook and wash plates while a man focuses solely on paid work, despite the fact that many women also maintain professional careers.

According to Aladese, shared responsibility at home is an important step towards achieving fairness in modern relationships. She argued that domestic tasks should not be defined by gender, but rather by cooperation and mutual understanding between partners.
In her words:”Why can’t a Man wash plate? Why do we keep perpetuating these gender stereotypes,a Woman will cook, wash plate and the Man will just work but women also work”
The statement quickly generated reactions across social media, with many users praising her for addressing an issue that resonates with contemporary families. Others engaged in broader debates about cultural expectations and changing social norms.
