Mercy Eke, ‘BBNaija’ S4 winner, shares story of how she lost her father

Mercy Eke, known as Mercy Lambo, opens up in a recent interview about losing her father in April 2023.

She initially thought it was an April fool’s joke when she received the news.

While growing up, she said she was closer to her mother, but her father’s illness brought them closer.

His illness, she added, began around the time she won Big Brother Naija in October 2019.

She expressed regret for not having a strong bond with him before it was too late.

In her words, “I hate the fact that it’s now coming the time that I wanted to show him that ‘your daughter has made it and accomplished something’. This was the time for him to enjoy himself but he became sick and couldn’t do much, couldn’t travel.”

During an interview, Mercy Eke, aged 33, shared that her father couldn’t attend the Big Brother Naija finale due to his illness, so her uncle represented her when she won.

She expressed disappointment that bloggers didn’t respect her family’s privacy during their time of loss.

Mercy is now a contestant in the Big Brother Naija All Star edition.
