Miss Nigeria Explains Her Reaction to Toni-Ann Singh’s Win at Miss World

Miss Nigeria 2019 Nyekachi Douglas has said that she was genuinely happy for Toni-Ann Singh who won the Miss World 2019 competition on Saturday.

“I’m sure people thought I thought I won, but I was just so happy for her. She was amazing. A lot of times in these competitions, there are a lot of times you’re like ‘oh my God, this is really too much for me. There was a time I wondered what’s my purpose? She’s the one who would be like ‘listen, you got this,’” Douglas said.

Miss Nigeria was one of Singh’s biggest cheerleaders on Saturday when 23-year-old St Thomas native won the Miss World crown in London, England.

Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett says he will be collaborating with the Culture and Gender Affairs Minister Olivia Grange to invite Miss Nigeria and Miss India to Jamaica at the earliest possible time.
