Iyabo Ojo, the Nollywood actress, has submitted a petition to the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and the Attorney-General of the Federation, Prince Lateef Fagbemi.
The petition addresses alleged misconduct by officers of the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCC) and the social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan.
In her petition, dated July 29 and presented through her legal representatives, The Maverick Forte Legal, Ojo accused NPF-NCC officers of severe procedural violations.

She claims these violations resulted in a breach of her privacy and may compromise the ongoing investigation into the death of singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad. Documents revealed that Ojo was invited by the police regarding her public statements that accused Azeez Fashola (Naira Marley) and Samson Balogun (Sam Larry) of involvement in Mohbad’s alleged harassment.

The actress expressed her surprise upon discovering that VeryDarkMan allegedly gained access to the details of her interrogation at the police headquarters.
The petition identifies CP Ifeanyi Henry Uche, the Commissioner of Police in charge of the NPF-NCC, as the officer responsible for the leaked information.
Ojo stated that shortly after her interrogation, details were leaked online by the activist, an act she characterises as a direct violation of her rights and an abuse of process.
Due to her lack of trust in the integrity and neutrality of the officers involved, Ojo has refused any further invitations to the NPF-NCC office in Abuja.

She is now requesting that the case be transferred to the Lagos Command of the Nigeria Police for an independent and impartial investigation.
In addition to the NSA and AGF, the actress has sent copies of her petition to the Executive Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission and the Chairman of the Police Service Commission, urging them to address this issue.
This controversy follows a recent exchange between Ojo and the activist regarding details surrounding Mohbad’s sudden death in 2023. Ojo has become one of the most vocal celebrities advocating for justice for the late singer, who had reportedly accused certain individuals, including Naira Marley and Sam Larry, of harassment and threats.
