Nigerian rapper and activist Folarin Falana Falz has stirred major reactions online after calling the popular political slogan “Emi Lokan” (It’s My Turn) one of the most absurd things he has ever heard.
During a recent interview with Arise Tv, Falz responded to comments made by First Lady Oluremi Tinubu encouraging celebrities to do more philanthropy and establish foundations to support Nigerians facing economic hardship. He strongly disagreed with shifting such responsibilities to entertainers.
Falz questioned the narrative of government officials being under “too much pressure,” especially after a campaign built around “Emi Lokan.”

“I’ve never seen anything more absurd than the ‘Emi Lokan’ slogan in my entire life,” he declared. “That means from day one, this was all about ‘it’s my turn’ to attain power. So why complain about pressure now?”
The artist highlighted ongoing national challenges like insecurity and drew attention to government spending on luxury vehicles and jets. He stressed that public service should focus on solving citizens’ problems rather than expecting private individuals to compensate for systemic shortcomings.
