Storming the music scene with a bang in 2016, Mr. Eazi projected a great level of confidence that normally wouldn’t be ascribed to a rookie. In all of his musical offerings that year and the years that followed, he made sure to project that quality strongly in his visual works.

Conversely, on his newly released video for Miss You Bad, the Leg Over star seemed to have grown a little bit soft.

Miss You Bad is a flavoured piece that blends highlife and afro pop genres, eliciting a laid-back feel to it. The lyrics highlight two unfaithful lovers who are willing to turn a new leaf by way of striking a truce in their relationship.  With plain lyrics and an out-of-place vocals that poorly conveys proper emotions, Mr. Eazi manages to give a remorseful delivery that adequately convey its intention. Thus, indicating a  shift from his usual bold self to a vulnerable state where he yearns to be loved.

Mr. Eazi shows his vulnerable side in Miss You Bad

Sonically, the instrumentation was fashioned from a steady beat that forms the base structure around which certain other musical elements such as soaring guitar riffs are latched on to; giving off a rounded finish.

Like his other visual projects, Miss You Bad imbibes afro-centric elements into the video’s two and a half minute run. Lush with local fabric –a factor that retraces footsteps back to his African roots– as a backdrop, he merges this African essence with the modernity that comes in the form of interior decor to gain an appeal that cuts across to all the demography that makes up his fan base.

Burna Boy lends his vocals on a verse

Burna Boy who had a great finish from last year and is currently gaining a good start this year in the music ecosystem lent vocals to a verse. Consciously maintaining the pace set by Eazi, Burna’s effort is easily forgotten as soon as he completes his verse. But this in no way denotes his input to the song, rather, it goes a long way to show how both  artistes were able to stand independently on separate pedestals, and shine in the moment.

Miss You Bad will always stand out for its emotional lyrics  but more importantly, it shows that Mr. Eazi  has a  after all.
