Nigerian rapper Okafor Victor, professionally known as Mr Real, has issued a public apology to veteran musician D’banj following the backlash over comments he made about the singer’s Creative, Reality, Entertainment, Arts and Music (CREAM) platform.

The controversy began when Mr Real suggested that the CREAM initiative was incapable of offering him a ₦20 million ambassadorial deal. The remark quickly gained traction online and attracted widespread criticism from fans and industry observers, many of whom questioned the accuracy and motive behind the claim.

In reaction to the statement, D’banj’s legal representative, Pelumi Olajengbesi, filed a petition accusing the rapper of criminal defamation. The application sought the issuance of a criminal summons, and a magistrate subsequently directed Mr Real to appear in court on January 19. An interim injunction was also granted, restraining him from making further comments about D’banj or the CREAM platform pending the determination of the case.
