Music Is The Only Thing I’m Good At – BOJ

Alternative music artiste, BOJ or BOJ on the Microphone, is one of the pioneers of the Alté movement, which he acknowledges took almost a decade to garner followers. In the latest episode of Ndani TV’s “The Mix”, the artiste talks about his journey so far and how spontaneous it has been, revealing artistes he would ‘give a leg’ to collaborate with.

On his choice of a career in music, BOJ shared; “Music is the only thing I’m good at. Growing up I wasn’t good at anything except football, so when I realized I could do music I stuck to it because the chances were better.”
On his career so far and how he handles the pressures and the setbacks, the artiste said; “My musical journey has been full of surprises. Even from the way I started, it was very spontaneous. I’m never really expecting much so I’m always overwhelmed with the outcome.”
Talking about the alternative sound which he co-pioneered and his musical influences, BOJ said; “Alté to us means free-spirited, doing what you want as opposed to following the norm. My music influences are from my parents, being the only child for like 9 years I was going everywhere with them and they were big on Shaggy, Lauryn Hill, Fela and a couple others so all that influenced my own sound in time.”
