In a candid and emotional interview with Afropolitan Podcast, Nicole Chikwe, the wife of Nigerian hip-hop star Naeto C, shared the struggles she faced when their relationship became public knowledge.
The announcement of their romance sparked a wave of criticism from fans and onlookers, who felt that she wasn’t worthy of the celebrated rapper.
Nicole didn’t mince words as she described the onslaught of disapproval that greeted her union with Naeto C.
She explained that many Nigerians, who held Naeto in high regard as a beloved figure in the music scene, felt that she didn’t measure up.
She said: “I received a lot of vitriol … the rhetoric was I was not good enough for everyone’s beloved Naeto C”
In the interview, Nicole revealed that the harsh rhetoric from the public left her feeling reeling and unworthy of Naeto C.
She recounted how the constant criticism affected her self-esteem and made her question her worthiness of being in a relationship with someone as talented and respected as Naeto C.
