Musician Naira Marley has broken his silence on the death of his former signee, Mohbad, in a recent YouTube video.
Marley denied any involvement in Mohbad’s death, stating that he was abroad when the incident occurred and cooperated fully with the police investigation.
According to Marley, he and Mohbad had disagreements, but he never wished any harm upon him. He also addressed several controversies surrounding their relationship, including Mohbad’s substance use, financial dealings, and contract disputes.
Marley claimed that he discovered Mohbad’s use of “ice” in June 2020 and advised him to quit. In his words, “I wasn’t angry, I called him and advised him and told him about the danger. He said he got into it because of stress but said he would stay out of it. I didn’t force him to do anything.” He also stated that their business dealings were transparent, with a 50-50 split in profits.
The musician also spoke about the NDLEA incident in February 2022, where Mohbad was taken into custody after a physical altercation with officers. Marley stated that he was in Sweden at the time and that Mohbad later accused him and others of endangering his life while experiencing a panic attack.
Marley’s statement comes after a court cleared him and others of any involvement in Mohbad’s death, recommending the prosecution of an auxiliary nurse who treated Mohbad before his death.
