‘Namaste Wahala’ to Premiere on Netflix on Valentine’s Day

Long-awaited cross-cultural rom-com Namaste Wahala has been acquired by streaming giant Netflix and is now set for a Valentine’s day release.

According to the filmmaker Hamisha Ahuja, the Bollywood-Nollywood film will debut as a Netflix original; instead of it getting a theatrical release. Now, the filmmaker can only hope the acquisition is worth as much as it would have made at the cinemas.

Namaste Wahala first made headlines in February 2020 with Ahuja, who doubles as producer and director, sharing the official poster. The filmmaker projected an April 2020 theatrical release. Unfortunately, it was one of many releases that took the backbench due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the resultant lockdowns.

Then the debut date shifted to October 2020; but the month went by with no Namaste Wahala in sight. But more recently, Director Hamisha Ahuja revealed that they would release the film “very soon”.

And finally, we have a date to countdown to. Namaste Wahala would probably be perfect for a Netflix and Chill date on Valentine’s day. Hopefully, it will be worth the wait.

Starring Nollywood actress Ini Dima-Okojie and Bollywood actor Ruslaan Mumtaz; Namaste Wahala follows the love story of a biracial couple who fall in love amid their cultural differences.

The movie also stars Joke Silva, RMD, Osas Ighodaro, Broda Shaggi, K10, Ibrahim Suleiman, Imoh Eboh and BBNaija season 4 star Frodd.
