South African rap star, Nsikayesizwe David Junior Ngcobo, better known as Nasty C, has spoken about his past battle with alcohol addiction and the reason he decided to stop drinking.
The award-winning rapper, who is popular for songs like Send Me Away, revealed that he was taking alcohol almost every day and at every outing before he made the decision to quit.
According to him, he was drinking in the studio, at restaurants, and even while preparing to perform on stage. Nasty C admitted that alcohol became a normal part of his daily life, until he realised it was doing more harm than good.

In a recent interview with British-Nigerian media personality, Madame Joyce, the 28-year-old rapper said his tolerance for alcohol was very high, which made the situation worse.

“I was addicted to alcohol. I was drinking every night. Anytime I go to the studio, I drink. If I go to a restaurant, I drink. Even when I perform, I drink. My tolerance was very high. When I drink with friends, I am always the last person to get intoxicated. I feel that is a bad thing because you don’t notice when something is going wrong until it is too late,” he explained.
The rapper said he drank all types of alcohol, ranging from vodka, whisky, cognac, tequila, to rum.
Nasty C went on to explain that he finally gave up drinking because he does not want to look older than his real age.
“I gave up alcohol because I don’t want to get what we call a ‘phuza face’ in South Africa. A ‘phuza face’ means when you age very quickly because you drink a lot of alcohol. You start looking 10 years older than your actual age,” he said
