The recent controversy involving Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) student David Ojuko and his female schoolmate, Adeife Adewale, has sparked heated debates online, with BBNaija star Tacha weighing in critically after Ojuko forgave her.
The ordeal began when Ojuko was publicly accused of rape in a viral post, claiming he assaulted her.
This led to widespread backlash against him, tarnishing his reputation, academic standing, and mental health.
The false allegation escalated tensions on campus, prompting Ojuko to demand a public retraction, written and video apologies, and ₦15 million in damages for defamation and emotional distress. He pursued legal redress, noting how such claims can ruin lives, including potential expulsion, social exclusion, or imprisonment if unproven.

Adewale later retracted the accusation in a video apology, admitting it stemmed from “the heat of the moment” and uncontrolled emotions. She issued both written and video apologies. Following this, and reportedly after interventions, including a virtual family meeting that ended without full resolution, Ojuko chose forgiveness, stating he accepted her remorse and would not pursue further aggressive action.
Tacha, known for her outspoken views on gender issues, slammed Ojuko’s decision to forgive without harsher consequences. She argued that forgiving false accusers undermines justice for real rape victims, as it diminishes the severity of malicious lies that fuel serious allegations.
