The wife of embattled content creator Ifeanyi Ogbonna (Odogwu of Asaba) has drawn sharp reactions from Nigerians after she publicly defended her husband, insisting he never raped or killed 20-year-old Favour Agbro and only had an “affair” with her.
In a video released around 27 August 2026, she declared she stands with him “100%,” described the encounter as consensual, and said social media is not a courtroom.
Some circulating versions of her remarks also labelled what happened a “transaction gone wrong” and claimed his earlier kneeling video was merely an attempt to settle the matter privately with Favour’s parents.
Netizens largely criticised the stance. Many accused her of enabling alleged misconduct, with comments on blogs and social platforms calling it the classic “good wife trope.”

One commenter wrote: “A wife and a mother defending an unfaithful husband? Anyone can own a dog but to publicly embrace a rabid one?”

Others questioned how a relationship that allegedly left the young woman traumatised enough to take her own life could be dismissed as a simple affair.
A section of online users, however, urged restraint, arguing that due process must run its course and that emotions should not replace evidence.
The Delta State Police arrested Odogwu in July after Favour’s family petitioned, following her video allegation of rape and subsequent death by toxic substance. Investigations continue and he has not been convicted.
