Social media has erupted in concern following the sudden disappearance of popular blogger Chuks EricE, who was arrested after reposting a controversial TikTok video.
EricE, known for his light news content and governance advocacy, boasts over 135,000 followers and has gained a reputation for amplifying civic conversations online.
The drama began after EricE shared a TikTok video posted on December 4, in which a user falsely alleged that Senator Ned Nwoko paid him N5 million to harm the senator’s wife, Nollywood actress Regina Daniels.
Although the original TikToker later clarified that the video was “just content,” the police arrested EricE despite evidence that he wasn’t the creator of the clip.

Reports say he was cleared of theft but was nonetheless transferred to Abuja for further questioning.
However, outraged netizens have taken to social media platforms demanding accountability. Many believe the arrest is unjustified and a threat to freedom of expression. Notable figures such as human rights lawyer Inibehe Effiong and Daniel Rehga have also spoken up, calling for transparency and EricE’s immediate release.
