Nigerian music star Tiwa Savage has commended the new wave of artists for their forward-thinking approach to building sustainable careers beyond music.
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, the award-winning singer shared her admiration for how younger acts are increasingly focused on diversifying their income streams and strengthening their personal brands.
Savage highlighted her conversation with fast-rising artiste Mavo as an example of this evolving mindset. According to her, she was impressed by his entrepreneurial drive and long-term vision.
“I recently sat down with Mavo. He had his own merchandise and mentioned plans to open a new café. I thought to myself, ‘wow, he’s already thinking of diversifying,’” she said.
The singer noted that, compared to earlier generations, many young artistes are now more intentional about creating multiple revenue channels and establishing a solid connection with their audience.
She explained that this new approach goes beyond just releasing music, as artistes are now actively building communities around their brand while nurturing loyal fanbases.

“The new generation of artistes are a lot more proactive. They’re building their community and fanbase,” she added.
