The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has praised celebrity chef Hilda Baci for her ongoing attempt to set a new Guinness World Record by cooking the world’s largest pot of jollof rice.
Describing the effort as “another demonstration of Nigeria’s global excellence,” Idris commended Baci’s dedication to excellence and perseverance.

Baci’s record attempt, held at Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos, has drawn over 20,000 attendees, which showcases Nigerian cuisine and culture on a global stage. The custom-built pot measures six meters wide and 1.3 meters deep, capable of holding over 22,000 liters of food. Idris laid emphasis on Baci’s achievement stating it would be a collective national victory.
The Federal Government however, has pledged its support for Baci’s initiative and similar projects that promote Nigerian excellence abroad. Idris encouraged young Nigerians to emulate Baci’s discipline and hard work, expressing optimism that her record attempt would inspire a new generation of entrepreneurs and creatives.
The event has become a festival of food, music, and national pride, with attendees celebrating Nigerian food culture and Baci’s culinary expertise. Guinness World Records officials are present to validate the attempt, monitoring ingredient quantities, pot dimensions, and cooking processes to ensure the record meets official standards.
