Nigerians React on Twitter as EFCC Arrests Naira Marley
Remember Naira Marley? The Nigerian singer who blew with the street jam “Issa Goal” and even recently dropped a single featuring Zlatan titled “Am I A Yahoo Boy?” Yeah, that Naira Marley.
He has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) for reasons not yet known to the public but believed to have connections with his statements lauding internet fraud (‘yahoo yahoo’) made via his social media.
Only last month, Naira Marley had stated on his Instagram that if anyone knew about the “transatlantic slave trade” then said person cannot call ‘yahoo yahoo’ a crime. He went further to call on Nigerians to pray for cyber criminals because they helped grow the economy. His comments caused days of uproar on the social media with some commenters as well as celebrities airing their views, in support and otherwise.
If anything comes out of this, we will keep you updated.
Meanwhile, Nigerians have reacted to the news in the funniest ways. Check out what some people had to say about Naira Marley’s arrest on Twitter:
