Nollywood actor Joseph Momodu has officially earned the rank of United States Army Specialist following 17 weeks of Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training.

Standing in full military uniform, Momodu reflected on the significance of the achievement, noting that accomplishments feel far more meaningful when they are earned through hard work rather than simply given.

Momodu, who was born Abubakar Sadiq Momodu and hails from the royal family of Oba Momodu II of the Avyuele Clan in Agbede, Etsako West, Edo State, completed his training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He now serves as Specialist (SPC) J.A. Momodu with the 1st Platoon, Charlie Company, 3rd Battalion, 10th Infantry Regiment.

His decision to enlist carries deep personal meaning. He has spoken of honouring his late father, a former officer in the Nigerian Police Force, by continuing a family legacy of service two decades after his father’s passing.

Momodu previously described the transformative experience of basic training as one of resilience, discipline, and personal growth, saying he “went to sleep a civilian and woke up a soldier.”

The actor joins a small but growing number of Nollywood talents who have transitioned from the screen to military service in the United States.
