Nollywood movie producer Niyi Akinmolayan has called the attention for actors asking them to be cautious when signing contracts that restrict their creative freedom.

In a recent post shared on his Instagram today, he advised actors against agreeing to terms that restricts or bans them from promoting other films they appear in, noting that such contracts can stifle their growth in the industry.

In his words: “Actors, I know you all need money, but please stop signing contracts that tell you not to promote other films. You are in Nollywood, which is not that rich (far from it), and you are part of the necessary ingredients for growth in the industry. Don’t stifle yourself.”

This is not the first time Akinmolayan has spoken out on industry issues. He has also advocated for fair treatment of actors, criticising the practice of recycling the same faces in Nollywood productions and pushing for more diverse casting
