
Some members of Nollywood came together to honor Muna Obiekwe (1979–2015), a talented actor whose work made a lasting impact on Nigerian cinema.
Muna was born in 1979 and grew up in Lagos. The late actor passed away on January 18, 2015, at age 36, after battling a kidney-related illness.
He was from Umudioka in Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State, which later became his final resting place.

Muna became well- known in the 2000s and was celebrated for his natural charm and emotional depth.
He became a household name for his romantic lead roles, but he also stood out by taking on bold and unconventional characters that many others avoided.
During his career, he acted in over 60 Nollywood films, such as Not Man Enough, Men in Love, Dirty Secret, Blackberry Babes, and The Laptop.
People praised his performances for being authentic, versatile, and brave in exploring new roles.Even though he was famous, Muna kept his personal life private and his family out of the spotlight. It became widely known only after his death that he was married and had two children.

He was also the first cousin of Nollywood actor Yul Edochie, who has said that Muna was a major influence on his own acting career.
Although he passed away too soon, Muna Obiekwe’s legacy lives on through his films and the memories he left in Nollywood.
