“Egungun is grateful”: Obesere Credits God for His Comeback

Trending Fuji star, Abass Akande aka Obesere says the social media buzz he’s enjoying at the moment is a manifestation of what God told him.

Obesere has been trending on social media recently as snippets of his Egungun Be Careful video became a popular meme on Twitter.

Speaking in an interview with Punch, the Fuji musician also known as Omo Rapala; said the music he released some years ago is trending in 2020 is because his music has ‘playback’ value.

Als0, he said he is currently trending because of what God promised him; that he would promote him from generation to generation.

Obesere said in the interview…

“Firstly, I thank God. Being able to be relevant over a long period is what professionalism is about.”

“There is something we call ‘playback’ in the music industry; that is a song that has a long lifespan and is still relevant years after its release. Any song that doesn’t have ‘playback’ is not good.”

“In my song, Overthrow, I sang that I, Omo rapala, had taken over. People are still playing that record. Other albums such as Mr Teacher, OBTK, Asakasa are still relevant.”

“Many of my albums are like that. It’s just that Egungun Be Careful is the most trending at the moment. It is God that made it so and He told me that He would promote me from generation to generation. It is a big plus for me and I appreciate everybody associating themselves with me”, he said.

Obesere also said he would like to release a remix of Egungun Be Careful, adding that the song became popular on social media because of the okada ban in Lagos.
