Veteran Nollywood actor Francis Odega has recently spoken about the film industry after sharing his candid thoughts on the current state of Nigerian cinema.
Speaking with noticeable nostalgia, the actor reflected on what he described as the golden era of Nollywood. According to Francis, there was a time when a single script could produce one truly unforgettable film.
In his words: “Back Then, One Script Would Give Us One Unforgettable Movie. But Now, One Script Can Give You Seven Bad Movies, And That’s Not Right. Nollywood Back Then, Is Far Better Than The Nollywood Of Today In Nigeria”.
However, Francis expressed concern that the industry’s rapid pace and drive for volume may be affecting storytelling standards.
