Omah Lay Cries Out from Police Custody

Afro-fusion singer, Stanley Omah Didia popularly known as Omah Lay, has cried out from Ugandan police custody, as he lamented his detainment.

As reported from eelive.ng, Omah Lay was arrested in Uganda alongside vocal powerhouse, Tems, for flouting COVID-19 guidelines in the country.

While condemning the flouting of COVID-19 guidelines, the Public Relations Officer of the Kampala Metropolitan Police; Superintendent of Police, Patrick Onyango said Tems and Omah Lay would know their fates in the court.

Tweeting from the police custody, Omah Lay said he’s in cuffs with Tems, adding that they were being maltreated.

“I’m in cuffs in Uganda right now with Tems,” his tweets read.

“I’m just a singer trying to entertain, why am I being set up in Uganda? I didn’t organize a show, I came on stage and saw teeming fans and sang to them…

“Why am I being detained? Why am I not been given a right to a fair hearing?

“Why is Uganda not letting @NigeriaMFA step into this? They have been trying to secure our release to no avail.

“Is there something bigger at play in Uganda? Why do I have to take the fall for it???” he queried.
