Ondo Police Takes Drastic Action Against DPO Over Mandy Kiss Controversy

The Ondo State Police Command announced the redeployment of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Enu‑Owa Division, following a viral video of social‑media influencer Adefolarin Ayomiposi known as Mandy Kiss filming and taking pictures of two women held at the station.

In a statement issued Tuesday, Commissioner of Police Adebowale Lawal described the DPO’s conduct as “unprofessional” and contrary to police standards.

As reported, the women, identified as Mrs. Akinwole Sabitu and her daughter Oyindamola, were reportedly accused of cyber‑bullying the influencer.

According to the police account, Mandy Kiss allegedly coordinated the suspects’ arrest with assistance from her online followers before handing them over to Enu‑Owa Division, where she recorded them and later posted the footage online.

Commissioner Lawal emphasised that recording or photographing suspects in custody breaches ethical guidelines and undermines the presumption of innocence guaranteed by law. “Recording or photographing suspects in custody violates established ethical standards and undermines the presumption of innocence guaranteed under the law.”

He added that the command will not tolerate actions that could destroy public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force and that the matter is under review to prevent recurrence. This also drew the attention of netizens as many faulted the officers at the station for allowing her take videos of both mother and child, some said she should also be arrested for bullying them.
