The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has shared the news of the passing of his older brother, Adetunji Ogunwusi.

He made the announcement in a statement released on Sunday by his Director of Media and Public Affairs, Sodiq Lawal.

The statement said Prince Adetunji’s passing has left the Ogunwusi family, the Ojaja Royal Dynasty, and the people of Ile-Ife in mourning.

Adetunji was born on December 8, 1967, and was part of the Ojaja lineage of the Giesi Ruling House in Ile-Ife. He served as the group chairman of Primewaterview Holdings until his passing.

The Ooni described his brother as someone devoted to family, business, and helping others, and noted that he supported humanitarian efforts.

“Today, the entire royal family mourns not only a brother and son but also a trusted confidant, a dependable pillar of our family,” the monarch said.

“His unwavering dedication to family values, his entrepreneurial spirit and his genuine love for humanity will forever remain a source of inspiration to us all.”

He also said Adetunji helped many people through his generosity, advice, and service, always staying true to the values of the Ojaja Royal Family.

He encouraged the Ogunwusi family and the people of Ile-Ife to find comfort in the life that his brother lived.

“Though his earthly journey has come to an end, his footprints on the sands of time can never be erased. The Ogunwusis are comforted by the fact that Prince Adetunji lived a fulfilled life dedicated to God, family, enterprise and humanity.

“May the Almighty Olodumare give us all the strength to bear this painful loss,” he said.

The Ooni of Ife Leadership Colloquium also described Adetunji Ogunwusi as a businessman who made contributions to Nigeria’s business sector as chairman of Primewaterview Limited.

The group said his death was a loss to the Ogunwusi family, the business community and the traditional institution.

“It is with profound sadness that we received the news of the passing of Prince Adetunji Ogunwusi. His departure has left family members, friends, associates and many admirers in deep mourning,” the statement said.

The organisation extended its condolences to the Ooni, members of the Ogunwusi family, the deceased’s friends and business associates, praying for strength for all those affected by the loss.
