Nigerian TikTok star and content creator Peller Habeeb Hamzat has fired back at TVC News anchors who heavily criticised him for declaring that the Maldives “is not for civil servants.”

During his recent lavish vacation to the Maldives with girlfriend Jarvis, which reportedly cost over ₦30 million, Peller warned viewers that the destination requires serious money.

He mentioned needing to show $10,000 in cash at the airport and advised anyone planning the trip to have strong backup plans or risk going broke.

TVC News anchors slammed his comments as “very rude” and “insensitive,” arguing that many hardworking civil servants could afford the trip multiple times and accusing him of looking down on public servants.

In a new video response, Peller addressed the backlash directly. He claimed he was quoting others, downplayed the drama, and jokingly asked fans if he should buy TVC News. He said: “If I first buy TVC, I will sack that lady who always talks about me, if she didn’t talk about me she can’t trend. When I return to Nigeria, I’ll come to that office and slap your face. Do you think everyone is your mate?”

The exchange has sparked heated online debates, with many Nigerians siding with Peller, who argued that the high cost highlights poor salaries for civil servants, while others called his remarks disrespectful. Phyna had earlier defended him, criticising TVC for attacking the boy instead of discussing low wages.
