Nigerian reality star and influencer Phyna has fiercely criticised TVC News anchors for their harsh reaction to content creator Peller’s comments about his luxury Maldives trip.
Peller, who splashed over ₦30 million on a vacation to the Maldives with his girlfriend Jarvis, openly stated in a video that the destination “is not for civil servants.”
He warned that the high costs, including the need to show $10,000 in cash, could leave government workers financially ruined without proper backup plans.

TVC News anchors responded strongly on air, describing Peller’s remarks as rude, insensitive, and dismissive of hardworking civil servants, with some claiming many public servants could afford the trip multiple times over.
In her own viral video, Phyna expressed disappointment, saying: “I was even scared civil servants would strike because Peller said they can’t afford a trip to Maldives and use the opportunity to question why civil servants don’t earn significant salaries, but reporters had to come at the boy.”
She argued that the media missed a golden chance to discuss the real issue of low wages for civil servants in Nigeria’s tough economy, choosing instead to target the young influencer.
The controversy has ignited a massive online debate, with many Nigerians agreeing that Peller’s point, though blunt, points out the harsh economic realities. Peller has since clapped back at his critics.
