Angela Okorie, a Nollywood actress, has responded to the Nigeria Police Force’s announcement of disciplinary action against its officers who appeared in a viral video jogging behind her during a workout.
The video had sparked outrage and raised questions about the misuse of state security personnel.
In a statement posted on her Instagram page, Angela Okorie expressed her unwavering respect and high regard for the Nigerian Police Force. She revealed that the police had invited her for questioning, which she honored, and appreciated the invitation.

“Happy New Month, Nigeria! Happy New month, NPF! I, Angela Okorie, Legit Queen, want to take this opportunity to reassure the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and the entire Nigerian public of my unwavering respect and high regard for the Nigerian Police. I will never, under any circumstances, disrespect the Nigeria Police in any manner,” she wrote.
She also reflected on her past experience with the police, recalling how they rescued her after she was shot and attacked on December 12, 2019. Angela Okorie praised the police for their love and support since then, describing it as “overwhelming and unforgettable.”
The viral video showed two armed policemen trailing Angela Okorie closely as she jogged casually, prompting the Nigeria Police Force to describe the act as “unprofessional and embarrassing.” The police have initiated an investigation to identify the officers involved and determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
According to the Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, the police are committed to upholding professionalism, discipline, and public trust.
However, the controversy surrounding the video sparked rumors and speculations, with some claiming that Angela Okorie was arrested by the police over allegations of cyberbullying against fellow actress Mercy Johnson.
