The Nigeria Police Force has formally invited social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, to appear before the Force Criminal Investigation Department in Abuja.
In a statement released on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, Force Public Relations Officer CSP Ani Iniedu confirmed that the Force CID issued the invitation letter on July 30. Otse is required to provide evidence supporting allegations he made publicly against Assistant Inspector-General of Police Moshood Jimoh, who heads Zone 2 Command in Lagos.

The police also disclosed that AIG Jimoh has been invited for questioning as part of an internal administrative review into the same claims.

According to the Force, the criminal matter referenced by Otse—linked to investigations into the killings of Sheriff Ishola Salami in 2023 and Ademola Akinloye in 2024 in the Ajiran area of Lagos has already been investigated. Following advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions, the case is currently before a court of competent jurisdiction and is therefore sub judice.
The police stressed their commitment to investigating credible allegations of misconduct regardless of the rank of the officer involved. They urged Otse to honour the invitation and cooperate fully with investigators while allowing both the judicial process and the administrative review to proceed without interference.
The Force warned that deliberately false allegations intended to damage the reputation of officers or the institution may attract legal consequences.
