American rapper Wiz Khalifa, born Cameron Jibril Thomaz, has been sentenced to nine months in prison by a Romanian court over a drug possession case tied to an incident at a music festival last year.
The ruling was handed down on December 18, 2025, by the Constanța Court of Appeal in Romania, which convicted the 38‑year‑old artist of “possession of dangerous drugs, without right, for personal consumption.”
The case stems from a performance at the “Beach, Please!” festival in Costinestin in July 2024, where police say Khalifa was found with more than 18 grams of cannabis and smoked part of it on stage during his set.
Initially, a lower court in Constanța County fined him 3,600 lei (about $830) for illegal possession earlier in 2025, but prosecutors appealed, seeking a harsher penalty. The appeal was successful, resulting in the custodial sentence now upheld by the appellate court. Romanian law is strict on drug possession, and even small amounts can lead to prison time.
