Lagos socialite and nightclub owner, Mike Nwalie, aka Pretty Mike, and his club supervisor, Joachim Hillary, have been granted N50 million bail each by the Federal High Court in Lagos.
They were arraigned on alleged drug-related offenses, including conspiracy, unlawful possession, and allowing their nightclub, Proxy Lagos, to be used for illegal drug activities.
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) claimed that the duo organised a drug party at the nightclub, where they recovered 200 grams of cannabis sativa and 177 cylinders of nitrous oxide, weighing 364.662kg. Hillary was also accused of possessing 200 grams of cannabis sativa without lawful authority.
Both defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges. The defense counsel, Dr. B.S. Awosika (SAN), urged the court to grant bail on liberal terms, citing their clean records and willingness to appear for trial. The prosecution opposed the application, arguing that the defendants had not provided sufficient grounds to justify bail.
Justice Ambrose Lewis-Allagoa granted bail, emphasizing that the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. The bail conditions include two sureties in the same sum, who must swear to an affidavit of means. The defendants were released to their counsel pending completion of their bail conditions. The case has been adjourned to January 14, 2026, for trial.
