“I’m a little traditional”- Priyanka Chopra on why she took a new name

Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas got married in a breath-taking ceremony in 2018 and we still can’t get over how romantic the whole event was.
In a chat with Jimmy Fallon, during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday night (February 5) in New York City, the 36-year-old actress spoke about why she decided to add “Jonas” to her last name.
She said:
“I always wanted to add his name to mine because I feel like we’re becoming family, and I’m a little traditional and old school like that. But I don’t take away my identity. He gets added to who I am. The gravity of it, it’s like a big deal! I didn’t realize it was that much of a big deal until I did it.”
Priyanka Chopra Jonas is an Indian actress, singer, film producer, philanthropist, and the winner of the Miss World 2000 pageant. One of India’s highest-paid and most popular celebrities, Chopra has received numerous awards, including a National Film Award and five Filmfare Awards. In 2016, the Government of India honoured her with the Padma Shri, and Time named her one of the 100 most influential people in the world. In 2017 and 2018, Forbes listed her among the World’s 100 Most Powerful Women.
Although Chopra initially aspired to study aeronautical engineering, she accepted offers to join the Indian film industry, which came as a result of her pageant wins, making her Bollywood debut in “The Hero: Love Story of a Spy” (2003).
