Nigerian reality star and actress, Queen Mercy Atang, has shed further details about the collapse of her union with her estranged husband, David Oyekanmi.
Earlier, eelive.ng reported that the Nigerian media personality and her husband have gone their separate ways exactly one year into their union. While the exact timeframe of their separation wasn’t stated publicly, the estranged couple first unfollowed themselves on the social media platform, Instagram, in August 2025.

Atang didn’t stop there; she went further to take down several photos of their wedding photos off her Instagram page. Amid the controversial actions taken by Atang, her husband, David, came online to claim that everything was fine between them.
The BBNaija Shine Ya Eye housemate also came out to state at the time, “I was trying to take my marriage off social media and reduce some of the things I put out there.”

However, in a new development on Wednesday, she finally confirmed her separation from David while addressing her marital status in an Instagram comment.
Queen Mercy had shared a new picture of herself from actress Mercy Aigbe’s mother’s burial last week.
Commenting on the photo, a fan, @makachrist, asked, “Queen, hope you are still married because asa, you are too beautiful to be single.”
The reality star replied, “Single and unavailable.”

The Controversial Union Between Atang and David
Queen Atang and David got married in March 2024; however, one year before their union, the Nigerian reality star had a child with social media content creator and skit maker, Lord Lamba.
Specifically, the reality star and skit maker welcomed their daughter, Princess Keilah on December 25, 2022.
Following a dispute between Queen Mercy and Lamba, the reality star held her wedding introduction in her hometown in Akwa Ibom, which had in attendance some of her colleagues like Nini Singh. Much to the amazement of social media users who questioned her decision to get married shortly after she had a child with Lord Lamba.

Following the ongoing marital upheaval between Queen Mercy and her partner, David, netizens went criticized the reality star for choosing to marry another man within months of welcoming a child with the content creator, Lord Lamba.
An Instagram user specifically slammed her for leaving David to welcome a child with another guy and then returning to David. She noted how David was only paying her back.
“Sure was dreaming, you left someone to go and gave birth to another guy. The guy came back to pay you back, and you think that he actually wants to marry you. Many ladies won’t learn on time until they learn the hard way”.
Responding to the Instagram user, Queen explained that she had never dated David in the past and noted that she had said so in several interviews. The reality star revealed that social media has been a contributing factor in her now-crashed marriage.
“I’m only responding to you because social media has been a contributing factor. I never dated David in the past. I’ve said this several times in my interviews. Stop with the lies”.
