Rapper Erigga Ties the Knot
Nigerian rapper, Erhiga Agarivbie, popularly known as Erigga, and his long time partner, Morenike are officially married.
The 33-year-old rapper shared on social media just how beautiful the ceremony was. The traditional wedding took place at Ughelli in Warri and was graced by friends and family of the couple.
Erigga who had announced an earlier date for his wedding stunned in the Itsekiri traditional wear alongside his bride.
“Whenever there’s a big story in the media, look for the story they’re trying to distract you from… I got married to my love,” he tweeted.
Erigga began his music career in 2010 and released his first single titled Mo Street Gan.
In July 2017, he released his album A Trip To The South which features Orezi, Skales and Duncan Mighty among others. In 2018, Erigga released another hit single titled Motivation featuring Victor AD. The song has gained over a million views on YouTube.
In 2019, the rapper revealed during an interview with DWtv how he sold drugs around the corner, went to jail and how music saved his life.
“The city brings out that toughness in you; you have to be strong to survive out here, it is really tough, there is no opportunity.
“We sold drugs and got into trouble with the law; but at some point, after I was released, I decided to exchange the drugs for the microphone.
“That decision changed my life totally and helped me move out of the hood and only returns occasionally, this time as a local celebrity.
“I never saw this coming; all I wanted was to give my people voice; what I rap about is basically the struggle that every Warri and Niger Delta youth go through every day,’’ he said.
