Regé-Jean Page speaks on James Bond speculations

Bridgerton” star, Regé-Jean Page finally addresses the speculations that he may play James Bond. In a recent interview with Variety Magazine, he speaks on the rumours. Fans were excited to jump on the news that he could potentially be the first black actor to play Bond.

Page jokingly repeatedly referred to the character as the ‘B-word’ when posed with the question. He said: “I can’t talk about the B-word, because I’ve got nothing to say on the B-word. I can’t talk about which jobs I’m not doing, because I’m not doing them, [but] I’m very happy with the work I am doing.

He quickly rose to fame with his performance and thereafter attracted a lot of interviews. Page also hosted one of America’s biggest comedy shows, ‘Saturday Night Live.’ The star also agreed that he was getting a lot of attention. He said: “I spend a lot of time at the moment talking about what other people are saying about me, as opposed to anything I’m actually doing.

Although Page will not appear in the new season of the show, he is not worried about keeping the momentum. He said: “Simon was this bomb of a one-season antagonist, to be reformed and to find his true self through Daphne. I think one of the bravest things about the romance genre is allowing people a happy ending.”

His exit from the show caught many of his fans by surprise and many were disappointed. He won the National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People NAACP award for his performance. Page did not fail to acknowledge how important his role in the film was.

The role meant that he played a Black actor in a Regency-era romance drama. It showed representation in a genre that never got Black actors. He said: “Me and my friends used to joke about the fact that you don’t see a Black man on a horse.”
