
Veteran Nigerian actress, Regina Askia, has called out Nigerian public officials for treating public offices as a chieftaincy title to pass to their kids.
The actress-cum-nurse made this statement via her Instagram page on Saturday, June 6.

Writing on IG, the US-based nurse practitioner lamented that many elective positions are being treated as hereditary family titles.
“Too many public officials seem to think that public office is a ‘chieftaincy title’ to pass to their kids,” Askia wrote, questioning the democratic values of the nation’s political system.

Who is Regina Askia?

Regina Askia-Williams is a Nigerian-born, American-based actress, model, and former beauty Queen of the University of Lagos titleholder. She received her certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner and practices in New York City.
Earlier, Nigerian actress, Yvonne Jegede, took to social media to call out Nigerian leaders and the government for failing to ease the affairs of the citizens.

In an Instagram post, Jegede said insecurity alone is not the problem, but the government’s lackadaisical approach towards tackling it.
She wrote, “Nigeria government lacks a sense of humanity.
“@Asiwajubat @officialoluremitinubu Nigerians are not doormats nor people you just prey on. Crimes happen everywhere in the world; the fact that Nigerians know that no one will ever come looking for them is the issue.
“These atrocities have not been tribal, religious, nor class-based.”
