The Nigerian entertainment industry was thrown into mourning on Wednesday after news broke of the death of popular Nollywood actress Temitope Osoba, popularly known as Tope Osoba.
The sad development was confirmed by her colleague and close friend, actor Alesh Sanni, who took to his Instagram page to share an emotional tribute.
“Couldn’t sleep since last night, it’s well. Rest in peace my dearest sister, Temitope Osoba. We had amazing time and good memories together, till we meet again. I really dunno what to say mehn, gosh,” Sanni wrote.
As of the time of this report, the exact cause of her death has not been disclosed by her family.
Osoba had publicly shared her battle with breast cancer after discovering a lump in late 2024. She underwent surgery and further treatment, and by 2025 she announced that she had been declared cancer-free.
The actress later returned to the screen, rebranded her career, and even celebrated her 40th birthday as a survivor, describing the milestone as a victory she once thought was impossible.
Known for her roles in several Yoruba-language films, Tope Osoba was regarded by many colleagues as a talented, warm, and hardworking actress.
