Shan George Seeks Castration As Punishment For Rapists
NOLLYWOOD actress and movie producer, Shan George has sought castration as punishment for convicted rapists in Nigeria.
Reacting to the rising cases of rape in the country, George expressed the belief that castration is the best way to end the societal menace often perpetrated by men.
She said, “I know the kind of law that would deter people from doing things that are so horrible. Some people that do these things are even married. I think it’s even rampant in rural areas where there are lots of secluded places. I think that rapists should be castrated. I believe that if you tell a man that he wouldn’t be able to have sex again, he would think twice about committing the crime.”
While cautioning those who are quick to blame rape on victims, the actress said indecent dressing is not an excuse for rape. According to her, prostitutes dress provocatively, and some of them don’t get raped.
“Rapists are generally sick people. I don’t think rape has to do with people’s mode of dressing. There are prostitutes who dress provocatively and go out of their ways to entice men.
“What of people that rape children? How provocatively can a minor dress? How about robbers that sneak into people’s houses, steal and rape their victims? Or what about people that rape elderly women? Rapists are just sick people with sick minds,” she added.
