Moses Babatope, a prominent figure in Nollywood’s distribution and exhibition space and former Managing Director of FilmOne Entertainment and founder of Nile Media, has shared reasons for actress Funke Akindele’s consistent dominance at the box office.
The actress who has broken her own record, with her current masterpiece ‘Behind The Scene’, making 1.1 billion Naira in three weeks and this win adds to her achievements so far from her success with “Battle on Buka Street”.

In comments around her massive success Babatope stated that Akindele “understands the DNA of the average Nigerian audience.” He said: “Funke Akindele has paid a level of attention that we do not see in any other film maker to her product.”

He went on stating the approach the actress uses in directing her audience to the cinemas, “Whether it’s the giving of merchandize, the level of promotional activities or the directing of audience specifically to the cinema or the consistency in releasing films in cinema not streaming.”

Moving further, Babatope noted that Akindele has paid her dues and hence may now seem like favoritism in the cinema business as many do not understand the efforts and sweat she has put in place to earn that stand. Before solidifying her position as the “Queen of the Box Office”, the actress and film maker has recorded success in Battle on Buka Street, Tribe Of Judah, Everybody Loves Jenifa and now Behind the Scenes which became one of the fastest Nollywood movies.
Babatope’s praise ties into her “relentless support” for Nigerian cinema, as seen in collaborations where she chooses cinema-focused strategies that benefit the industry.
