Afrobeats artist Qing Madi has publicly accused Joy Tongo, the CEO of her former record label JTon Music, of financial theft and forging her signature.

The “American Love” singer claimed during a TikTok livestream that the label is actively trying to sabotage her career, pointing to the recent removal of several tracks from her new album, Barely Legal, from streaming platforms due to alleged contract breaches.

According to Qing Madi, these takedowns are underhanded tactics following her victory against the label in a recent $2 million lawsuit.

She [Joy Tongo] stole from me, did a bunch of weird things like forging my signature. She sued me for $2M & she lost the case. She took down ‘Pepper Me’, I worked with my team to prove it’s an illegal takedown. They went through the corners again to take down the project,” the singer said.

Expressing deep exhaustion over the legal battle, the singer called on her fans to help speak out against the alleged injustice.

In response, JTon Music CEO Joy Tongo has completely denied the allegations, labeling them as false.

Tongo rejected the claims of forgery and theft, and clarified that the legal battle is far from over.

She stated that the lawsuit is still ongoing and that an active court injunction is what legally allows the label to take down Qing Madi’s music and projects.

Also, the injunction is ruling is why we can issue a legal takedown now, what case have you won? Because last time I checked the case still hasn’t gone to trial,” Tongo added in a post on her Instagram page.
