‘Slay’ pulled from Netflix due to copyright infringement
Streaming giant Netflix has taken down its newly released Nollywood film Slay over claims of copyright infringement.
The 2021 movie had already reached number 1 in multiple countries before Ghanaian artiste Wendy Shay called the Slay producers out for using her song as one of the soundtracks without her permission.
“So, I watched this movie last night on Netflix and my song, All for You was featured without my consent or that of my management,” Wendy Shay tweeted; sharing a clip of the movie in which they use her song. “Producers of the movie Slay, it is a crime to use someone’s intellectual property without her consent. Kindly do the needful or I will see y’all in court.”

Neither Netflix nor the film’s producers have publicly addressed the singer’s claims. However, Slay is no longer available on the platform. Produced by Elvis Chucks and directed by Adze Ugah; the comedy film stars Ramsey Nouah, Idris Sultan, Amanda du-Pont and other celebrity actors from the continent. Slay premiered on the streaming platform on April 26, 2021, and will likely be back once the producers resolve the copyright issue.
