Snoop Dogg Apologises to Gayle King Amidst Kobe’s Homegoing

Just last week, Gayle King was dragged across the internet, after she asked if Lisa Leslie, a fellow basketball legend and a woman, felt the sexual assault (which was later dismissed) complicated Kobe Bryant’s legacy.

“It’s not complicated for me at all,” explained Leslie, who said Bryant wasn’t the “kind of person that would… do something to violate a woman or be aggressive in that way.”

That being said, one of such derogatory comments which followed King’s interview came from Snoop Dogg who believed  King and the likes of Oprah Winfrey criticise black male stars at the centre of sexual assault while remaining silent on predator whites.

In the deleted Instagram video, he said, “How dare you try and tarnish my motherfucking homeboy’s reputation… Respect the family and backoff bitch, before we come get you.”

Susan Rice’s harsh reaction

Though the comments section contained many comments urging the rapper on, others, including former national security adviser Susan Rice, harshly criticized the comments.

Snoop Dogg tenders apology

Snoop Dogg has however apologized to the CBS News anchor after the attack on her

The rapper whose real name is Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr. addressing CBS This Morning host said he overreacted and should have handled the situation differently.

“Gayle King, I publicly tore you down by coming at you in a derogatory manner based off of emotions. So I would like to apologize to you publicly for the language that I used and calling you out of your name and just being disrespectful,” he said.

The rapper said he was angry over the questions King asked about Bryant, saying he felt he had to stand up for a friend who was no longer alive to defend himself.

Snoop Dogg claimed in another video days later that he “didn’t threaten her,” but he was just calling for some respect to the Bryant family.

Kobe Bryant NBA legend and his 13 year old daughter Gianna have been laid to rest in a private family service two weeks after their traggic deaths alongside seven others.
