Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has alleged that soldiers are attempting to stop him from entering Osun State on Saturday amid the state’s governorship election.
In a post on his verified X account in the early hours of August 15, 2026, the singer stated that he had received reliable information about the planned restriction.
“I’ve been reliably informed that soldiers are trying to prevent me from entering Osun tomorrow, this won’t happen, every citizen of Nigeria has the right to movement at any point of time,” he wrote.
The claim comes as voters head to the polls in the off-cycle election. Davido, a nephew of incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke, has actively supported his uncle’s re-election bid under the Accord Party.

Adeleke faces challenges from candidates including Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress.
The allegation follows an announcement by the Nigeria Police Force of a statewide restriction on movement from midnight on Friday, August 14, until 6 p.m. on Saturday.
Davido’s post generated significant online discussion, with some linking any potential checks to the standard election-day restrictions while others raised concerns about possible targeted actions against a high-profile supporter of the incumbent.
