Spotify unveils a specialized platform for key details on Afrobeats music

Spotify has unveiled “Afrobeats: Journey of a Billion Streams,” a dedicated site that tracks the West African genre.

Afrobeats has become a global sensation, with a 550% growth on Spotify since 2017 and over 13 billion streams in 2022.

The site will serve as a repository for Afrobeats’ cultural impact, featuring text, infographics, and visual elements.

It will showcase Spotify streaming data, results from the April 2023 Afrobeats survey, and updates on new Afrobeats moments.

The site’s five key pillars include exploring the genre’s origins, its evolution, fusion with other genres, cultural exportation, and the women of Afrobeats.
