Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has reportedly been arrested by officers of the Nigeria Police Force Cybercrime Centre over an alleged cybercrime case linked to her colleague, Mercy Johnson.
eelive.ng learnt that filmmaker Seun Oloketuyi made the news known on his Instagram page, where he disclosed that the actress was picked up at her residence in Lagos.
After her arrest, she was taken to Yaba Panti, where she spent the night because there was no available flight to Abuja at that time.
Reports say she was later placed on an early morning flight to the Federal Capital Territory, where she is expected to appear in court in connection with the matter involving Mercy Johnson.

Reacting to the development, Stanley Ontop took to his Instagram page to demand Angela’s release, stating that any complaint against her should be addressed through lawful means. In his post, he wrote:
“I will be in Abuja tomorrow for Angela Okorie’s matter. Whoever is in charge should be careful because the Human Rights Watch is watching you.”

Angela Okorie and Mercy Johnson have had a public disagreement for several years, mostly on social media. Their exchanges have attracted a lot of attention, with people supporting or criticizing each side at different times.
In 2023, Okorie publicly apologized to Mercy Johnson and admitted that her reactions during their online exchanges were sometimes influenced by anger and emotions.
At the time of this report, the Nigeria Police Force has not released an official statement confirming any arrest or charges. Okorie has not commented on the reports, and Mercy Johnson has also stayed silent.
