Nollywood actress Sarah Martins has issued a strong advisory to women following a troubling encounter she witnessed on a flooded Lagos road.
In a video shared on her Instagram page, Martins recounted spotting a woman wading through floodwater and offering her a ride.
Unknown to her at the time, the woman’s husband was walking a short distance behind. When the wife entered the car, the man erupted in anger, shouting insults and directing curses at both women.

Shaken by the “hate and bitterness” visible in the man’s eyes, Martins asked the woman to rejoin her husband, fearing potential harm once they got home. She used the incident to deliver a message to her followers especially women.

“Stop marrying out of pity!” the actress urged. “Don’t date low, don’t marry low. A rich man can be violent, and a poor man can be even more violent. As a woman, don’t marry your enemy.”
Martins encouraged women to prioritise character, mutual respect, and friendship in choosing life partners rather than ignoring red flags out of sympathy.
Her emotional recounting has sparked widespread conversations online about toxic relationships, red flags, and the importance of emotional safety in marriage.
