Submissions Begin For 2020 Commonwealth Short Story Prize

The 2020 Commonwealth Short Story Prize is now open for submissions for its annual short story competition.

The Commonwealth Short Story Prize established in 2012, is one of the most universal prize as it accepts entries from all commonwealth citizens across the globe, who are at least 18 years of age. The annual prize, awarded to the best unpublished short story of 2000-5000 words, written in English or translated into English, is free for all writers who are eligible to enter.

Chair of judges for the 202 prize is Ghanaian writer and editor at Flipped Eye Publishing, Nii Ayikwei Pakrkes. Other judges covering the five commonwealth regions are: South African songwriter and novelist, Mohale Mashigo (Africa), Managing Director and co-founder of the Select Centre, William Phuan (Singapore), Canada writer and journalist, Heather O’Neill (Canada), Professor of French and Francophone Literatures, Elizabeth Walcot-Hackshaw (Caribbean), and writer and installation artist, Nic Low (The Pacific).

The submission for this year’s prize which opened on the 1st of September, 2019, will close on the 1st of November, 2019. Regional winners will receive £2,500, while the overall winner goes home with a whooping £5,000.
