
Singer Tems is now the most-streamed African artist on Spotify worldwide, reaching a new milestone in her career.
The publication quoted a statement noting that “Tems has reached a defining moment in her career, emerging as the most streamed African artist globally on Spotify.”
Tems, whose full name is Temilade Openiyi, first gained international attention after featuring on Wizkid’s hit song ‘Essence,’ which introduced her to a larger global audience.

She has also been recognised for her solo music and for writing songs on international projects.

Tems gained popularity in 2020, courtesy of her collaboration with Wizkid on the song ‘Essence’.
In 2023, she earned her first Grammy for her contribution to ‘Wait For U’, the 2022 hit song by Future featuring Drake.

Tems also released her first album, Born in the Wild, in 2024. The album received positive reviews and charted in several countries.
She clinched her second at the 2025 Grammy Awards for the ‘Best African Performance’ category.
She has also won multiple awards, cementing her place as one of the leading Nigerian artistes on the global stage.
