The 2019 Lagos International Poetry Festival Is Set To Commence

The 2019 Lagos International Poetry Festival is set to commence, from the 31st of October, 2019, to the 3rd of November, 2019.

Founded in 2015 by writer and spoken word poet, Efe Paul Azino, the Lagos International Poetry Festival, is an annual event of poetry, performance, workshops and conversations, often described as a roll call of wordsmiths, artists, poetry merchants and deep thinkers.

The 2019 edition of the festival themed, “A Beautiful Wild Thing,” will feature a workshop on the Poetics of Desire with Logan February, Poetry Workshop with Itiola Jones, Fusing Poetry and fiction; a workshop with Bernadine Evaristo, and Poetry Master Class with Kaveh Akbar. Other events include; conversations with various authors (Bassey Ikpi, Bernadine Evaristo, Otosirieze Obi-young, Kola Tunbosun, Nana Dakoa, Salman Elwardany, Chitra Nagarajan) and Film Screening: Mother Tongues by Victoria Adukwei Bulley.

In attendance of the fifth edition of the festival are; Banky W (musician, producer and politician), Enajite Efemuaye (Managing Editor Kachifo Limited), Upile Chisala (Malawian writer and poet), Brymo (musician and poet), Bukola Sawyer Izeogu (media consultant), Tolu Agbelusi (poet, playwright, performer, producer and lawyer), Bash Amuneni (poet and performer), amongst others.
